What are the basic hiring requirements for a driver?
Minimum Age – 23 years, with two years, full-time tractor-trailer experience
Must have CDL with Haz Mat and tank endorsements (CDL-A-End-X)
Must have a TWIC card.
No more than two moving violations in past 36 months
No more than one minor, preventable accident during prior 36 months in a commercial motor vehicle
No involvement in any preventable, rear end accident during the past 36 months
No conviction of any drug or alcohol offense within ten years prior to the date of LTC application
No violent or drug/drug related felonies allowed. An applicant with a single, non-violent, non-drug related felony over ten years old may be considered.
How much can a driver make at LTC?
Depending upon the type of work you desire (system, local, or dedicated), our top owner operator earners average $4,000+ per week running system freight.
How many miles per week can I expect to average?
2,200 + miles/week.
What type of experience do I need to pull a cargo tank for LTC?
At least two years of verifiable, full-time tractor-trailer experience. Cargo tank experience is preferred, but we will train any accepted driver candidate.
What type of equipment do I need?
General guideline for tractors wanting to be leased to LTC
Year: 10 years old or newer
Wheelbase: 265 inches or less
Weight: 20,000 lbs or less full of fuel
Height: No taller than 11’ 6”. One exception: “used” condo configuration tractors may have a height not to exceed 13’ 6”.
Fifth wheel height: 48 to 50 inches
A pump and compressor are preferred, but LTC will assist the driver in obtaining these if needed.
